Elina Scheja is Chief Economist at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), where she works to strengthen the use of evidence, economics and analysis in development cooperation. She brings deep expertise in poverty reduction, inclusive growth, development finance and evidence-informed decision-making, with experience spanning Sida, the World Bank, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and research institutions. Elina has worked on migration and remittances, market development, private sector development and inclusive growth analytics across multiple country contexts. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex.
